The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is actively committed to gender equality and is continuously working on anchoring it structurally. Despite the progress already made, the faculty remains committed to advancing gender equality in all areas. Here you will find an overview of our measures and funding opportunities:

Gender-Mentoring

The Gender Mentoring Agency offers measures to support particularly talented female doctoral candidates and students at the University of Cologne. The aim is to attract them - as part of a structured talent management program - to the academic field and to provide them with long-term support in planning and implementing their career steps. As an instrument for promoting talented students, the agency supplements existing mentoring programs at the University of Cologne and makes an important contribution to attracting the “best minds” to academia.

In addition to mentoring partnerships, further training opportunities and network meetings for mentees, the offer includes a target group-specific offer for academic managers and mid-level staff who would like to network and professionalize their role as mentors and career developers or gatekeepers.

The Gender Mentoring Agency is a free service offered by HR Developement and is aimed at female doctoral candidates and students from all faculties.

Gender Consulting: Gleichstellung in DFG geförderten Forschungsverbunden

DFG-funded research alliances (SFB, FOR), graduate schools and research training groups as well as clusters of excellence at the University of Cologne receive gender funds from the German Research Foundation, which can be used for training (Female Career Center), coaching (Human Resources Development in Science) and childcare (Dual Career & Family Support), among other things.

The Department for Equal Opportunities "ChanGe" supports you with the application process and also offers personal consultations.

HYPATIA: Netzwerk zur Gleichstellung

Ziel des Netzwerks HYPATIA ist es zum einen, den weiblichen, wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs des Departments Mathematik/Informatik zu fördern und zu vernetzen. Zum anderen versteht sich HYPATIA als Diskussionsplattform für die Frage, wie die wissenschaftliche Umgebung attraktiver für einen diverseren Personenkreis gestaltet werden kann. Wie kann die wissenschaftliche Umgebung familienfreundlicher werden? Was macht eine universitäre Laufbahn attraktiver für Frauen?
