How exon junction complexes shape the human transcriptome

The exon junction complex (EJC) is a multifunctional mRNA-binding protein complex. Mutations in genes coding for EJC components result in severe disorders in humans, demonstrating the critical physiological role of the EJC. This lecture will summarize recent insights into the molecular characteristics and cellular functions of this important player in post-transcriptional gene regulation in metazoans.
